Jaguar Land Rover aims for 20%-30% sales growth in China in 2013

By Carmen Lee  From Gasgoo.comMarch 20, 2013 (Shanghai March 19) – Following a strong performance in 2012, Jaguar Land Rover is aiming to maintain sales growth of 20 percent to 30 percent in China this year, the Beijing Morning Post reported today. The sales goal was announced by Jaguar Land Rover China President Bob Grace, who noted that the manufacturer's key to success lies in building up its sales network in the country.

Jaguar Land Rover's total sales increased 74 percent in 2012, with sales of Land Rover vehicles growing 83 percent. Compared with last year's performance, the manufacturer's goal for 2013 is relatively conservative.

Commenting on its plans, Mr. Grace revealed that Jaguar Land Rover will update some of its models this year. Sales of some models, such as the Range Rover Evoque and Freelander 2, are anticipated to increase as much as 50 percent. Mr. Grace also stated his optimism in the Chinese luxury car market, predicting sales to continue to grow over the next few years.

Mr. Grace also stated that the manufacturer will continue to uphold its policy of limiting the number of models it sells in order to avoid saturating the market.

At the same time, Mr. Grace also confirmed that the number of Jaguar Land Rover dealerships in China will exceed 200 before the end of 2014. The dealerships will strive to provide high-quality customer service. Jaguar Land Rover currently possesses 163 certified Chinese dealerships spread across 90 cities.
